The Book of Daniel In Outline
1) Babylonian Captivity
2) Nebuchadnezzar’s Colossus
3) The Four Beasts
4) Daniel’s Seventy-Sevens of Weeks
5) The 275 Year Rivalry of the Ptolemys and Seleucids to the end
Some of the chapters in Daniel begin with the year of the current kings reign. For instance, the book begins in the third year of Jehoiakim, king of Judah when Babylon takes Israel captive, which would be the first year of Nebuchadnezzar over the captives.
The outline notes the king and the year of each chapter. Watch carefully, because the visions given to Daniel bounce back and forth. Chapters seven through eleven all end on something about the fourth beast.
1) Chapter one—opens in the third year of Jehoiakim, king of Judah. Judah is taken captive by Babylon and choice young men are chosen for the kings court.
2) Chapter two— opens the second year of Nebuchadnezzar, which includes chapters three and four for the remainder of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign and seven-year sentence for pride.
a. Nebuchadnezzar dreams of his colossus (statue).
b. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are thrown into the furnace but do not burn.
c. Nebuchadnezzar dreams of a great tree.
d. Nebuchadnezzar loses his kingdom and lives as a beast of the field for seven years.
e. At the end of his sentence for pride he gives honor and glory to YHVH.
3) Chapter five— though it does not site the year of reign, is set in the last year of Belshazzar on the night he throws a big feast and sees the writing on the wall. He died that night. This would have been in the third year of Belshazzar. Chapter eight is also in the third year.
4) Chapter six— Darius takes the kingdom. This would be his first year over the captives. Chapters nine and eleven are also in his first year. Darius’ council of leaders plot to trap Daniel and to throw him in the Lion’s den. The lions did not kill him.
5) Chapter seven— begins with the first year of Belshazzar. The end time events are in the order given to Daniel, but not in the order they will occur.
a. Daniel’s vision of four beasts.
b. White Throne when the scroll was opened for the judgment.
c. The time of the fourth beast’s destruction.
d. The ascension, glorification, and dominion of Jesus
e. The fourth beast is interpreted.
6) Chapter eight— opens in the third year of Belshazzar.
a. The ram with two horns which is the Medo/Persian kingdom.
b. The goat with one horn is Alexander the Great of Greece. The goat broke the ram’s two horns.
c. The goat’s horn is broken (Alexander dies) and four horns come up in its place (Alexander’s four generals).
d. A little horn comes up out of one of the four horns.
i. The split kingdom dies and one comes back to life at the time of the end to become the fourth beast.
7) Chapter nine—opens in the first year of Darius, the Mede.
a. Daniel prays for the mercy of his people.
b. Gabriel the angel answers the prayer with the prophecy of seventy-sevens of weeks.
c. The Beast will confirm a covenant for seven years
8) Chapter ten—opens in the third year of Cyrus, king of Persia. Cyrus is the king that set Darius as governor over the captives.
This would be an overlapping chapter. Verse 20 explains the time frame of this chapter as the time of the fight between the ram
and the goat.
a. The goat is in three parts

i. One horn

ii. Four horns

iii. One little horn-the fourth beast
9) Chapter eleven—opens in the first year of Darius the Mede.
a. Verses 1-28 describes the 275-year rivalry between the descendants of two of Alexander’s generals,

Ptolomy of Egypt and Seleucus of Syria.
b. Verses 29-45 describes the reign of the fourth beast who is the small horn out of the dead Seleucid kingdom.
10) Chapter twelve—the time of the end
a. The wrath of YHVH.
b. The White Throne judgment.
c. Two resurrections.
d. Daniel’s visions are to be sealed until the end time begins.
e. The number of days for the beast—1290 days
f. The number of days for those who wait—1335 days. The vials of YHVH’s wrath accounts for the difference of 45 days.

Here is the key to the days being shortened for the saints in the graves who are resurrected and the saints who are alive

and raptured before the wrath begins. Both rise to meet Jesus in the air. Those who did not take the mark of the beast

or receive the seal of the Holy Spirit must wait until the wrath is finished. The will repopulate the earth for one thousand

years.
The Books of Daniel and Revelation are hit the hardest by false doctrine. The strange doctrines Apostle Paul warned Timothy about have done great damage to the Body of Christ. Satan knows he is doomed for destruction and he will take as many souls with him as will agree with him, . He does it by altering the truth of the Bible. The majority of believers step over the line of demarcation into enemy territory without realizing what they are doing.
